An entity affiliated with Surge Entertainment — a company co-owned by retired New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees — has purchased a 240,000-square-foot mall in Metairie and operates an indoor shopping center there. trampoline park.
6930 Veterans Blvd Invest LLC purchased the mostly vacant mall at 7000 Veterans Blvd in late July. Sold off David Drive for an undisclosed price, according to Jefferson Parish records. The property was previously a Kmart that closed nationwide.
The site was sold by GGS LLC, which lists descendants of Sazerac President William Goldring as an official trustee, according to Secretary of State records.
Surge Trampoline Park has been operating from the property’s 50,000-square-foot space for the past seven years. Managing partner Darren Balsamo said the company is remodeling the mall and assessing what the remainder can accommodate. It has permission from the Jefferson Parish to undertake a $501,000 renovation on site. No decision has been made on the expansion, he said.
Based in West Monroe, Surge Entertainment operates trampoline parks, recreation centers and indoor adventure parks across the United States, and in recent years Brees has appeared at openings in Lafayette, Florida, Bossier City and Jacksonville.
Other venues in Alabama, Virginia, Oklahoma and the Carolinas offer golf simulators, arcades, restaurants, party spaces and other entertainment venues for a family-friendly atmosphere.
