“We have observed and admired Philippe’s path to success in Formula 2 this year and our aim is to provide him with all the necessary skills and experience to be able to take the next step in his career.
The billionaire team boss added: “When the time comes, if he becomes an F1 driver, joining the great pantheon of Brazilian drivers like Emerson Fittipaldi and Ayrton Senna, it will be the ultimate validation.”

“2023 will be a learning curve for me: I will be working with the F1 team, but my main goal is to learn and develop as a driver. I hope this will give me the opportunity to take part in Formula 1 in the future competition,” Drugovich concluded.
AMF1 Team Principal Mike Clark said: “Felipe showed incredible talent, determination and consistency in winning this year’s FIA Formula 2 Championship – I especially remember his excellent performance in Barcelona in May Impressive Sprint and Feature wins.

Felipe to test FP1 and young drivers with Aston Martin at Yas Marina in November
The 22-year-old Brazilian won five races last weekend, won the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship at Monza and signed a contract with AMF1 on the day he was crowned champion.
The Driver Development Program was designed in conjunction with AMF1’s engineers and management to provide junior drivers with a ladder to F1.
As part of the program, Felipe will be one of the team’s reserve drivers. The aim of the team is for him to drive FP1 (in place of Lance Stroll) at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and to take part in the Young Drivers Test at Yas Marina Circuit in November.
In 2023, he will run an extensive testing programme behind the wheel of the 2021 AMR21 car and will compete in selected Grand Prix races as a team member.
