du is from the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) in partnership with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to provide fixed, ICT, special projects and long-term technical support.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at Gitex Global 2022 by Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, CEO of RTA’s Enterprise Technical Support Services, and Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of Du.
As part of the agreement, du will work with the RTA to enhance its fixed and mobile services and provide digital twin solutions in Dubai Metro and other mixed reality technologies.
Innovation Showcase
Under the theme “Powering the Government, Shaping the UAE’s Reality”, du brought Gitex 2022 an innovative showcase that showcased next-generation technologies such as 5G, IoT, AI, Metaverse and robotics. The digital twin solution from du and RTA leverages innovative telecommunications, IoT and extended reality technologies to demonstrate the next generation digital twin approach in the age of virtual worlds.
RTA and du will enable a fully embedded fixed mobile telecommunications system in Dubai’s transport network, with the initial phase of the project focusing on the Dubai Metro. The data-rich digital twin provides network operators with real-time analytics, predictive insights and maintenance information for all critical assets in Dubai’s transport network, when needed.
Using custom sensor equipment, the digital twin will detect failures, allowing data to be read from any asset in the cloud and analyzed in real time. Physical assets such as escalators, screen doors, and point-of-care machines can be monitored using sensors connected directly to a private 5G network, where AI is used to detect faults and predicted data anomalies in real time.
positive transformation
Mudharreb said: “The role of digital technology is accelerating the transformation, from a driver of efficiency to one of innovation and positive transformation. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority looks forward to further driving innovation and improving communication technologies to make futuristic cities a reality.” We are delighted to be working with du in this outstanding partnership, which allows us to introduce innovation to improve commuter journeys and provide unparalleled opportunities for value creation in Dubai’s public transport sector. “
Al Hassawi said: “du’s long-term partnership with RTA prioritizes digital transformation initiatives as it has the potential to create higher value for the UAE. Our digital twin solution is not just a gateway to the virtual world, it also Using technology to improve the efficiency of public transport and help reduce energy consumption and emissions has important social and environmental benefits.”
The adoption of digital twin technology has so far been limited, however, du’s 5G private mobile network, with its low latency and high speeds, has helped make this reality a reality in the UAE. As part of a partnership with GM Cruise, du will also use its 5G network to connect self-driving taxis, implement digital twins in RTA warehouses and trains, and provide data center and cloud services. This will allow RTA to deliver a first-class, hassle-free experience soon. — arab trade news agency
