Dubai: A teenager filed a lawsuit against his father who tried to force him to re-enter high school and achieve higher grades-News

Due to the intervention of the authorities, a 17-year-old teenager sought help from the Dubai Police to persuade his father not to force him to study a specific subject at the university.

The child and women protection department of the Dubai Police immediately accepted the case, citing the provisions of Article (12) of the 2016 Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 on children’s rights, locally known as the Wadeema Law, and granting boys the right to express their rights. Free to express opinions and be heard.

Maitha Mohammed Al Balushi, head of the Child Protection Section of the Ministry of Women and Child Protection, said that the recent graduate contacted his mother and was very worried that his father wanted to follow in his footsteps and study and work locally. The same field.

“The father was disappointed that his son’s grades did not qualify him to enter the same university he was taking. He tried to force the boy to re-enter high school to achieve higher grades. The son is proud of his father’s success at work, but despite his efforts But he couldn’t realize his father’s wish,” Al Balushi explained.

“We contacted the father and urged him to respect his son’s right to express his opinions on matters he cares about. We also encourage the boy to respect and always consider his father’s feelings and opinions when making life-changing decisions,” she added.

The father agreed to leave the matter to his son, and finally resolved the differences without infringing on the children’s rights.

Major Ali Muhammad Al Matroushi, Director of the Protection of Children and Women of the Directorate-General for Human Rights, confirmed that according to the law, every child has the right to freely express his or her opinions according to their age and maturity, in compliance with public order and morality and the current laws of the UAE.

It also ensures that every child has the opportunity to express his/her opinion on the decisions he/she makes within the scope of the current law.

“Dubai Police pays special attention to every case reported to the Department of Child and Women’s Protection. We ensure that this family disagreement is resolved amicably because we value and give priority to family bonds and children’s interests,” Al Matroushi said.

He added: “As long as the case is resolved through persuasion and frank discussions between the parties, we will not take any legal actions.”
