Regionally, passenger traffic to the Middle East accounts for 55% of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s total passenger traffic

Dubai and Abu Dhabi were the busiest destinations at Mumbai International Airport in the past year. From April 2022 to March 2023, Indian airports served 2.3 million passengers to and from Dubai, followed by Abu Dhabi (0.8 million), London (700,000), Singapore (700,000), Jeddah (500,000) , Doha (0.5 million), Bangkok (0.5m), Muscat (0.4m), Kuwait (0.3m) and Riyadh (0.2m)

A total of 44 million passengers used Mumbai Airport during the 12-month period, including 11.2 million international passengers.

Besides Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport is also connected to Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

As the UAE is home to a large Indian diaspora and Dubai is one of the most popular tourist destinations for Indians, UAE-India is one of the busiest air corridors in the region, with millions of people traveling between the two countries every year .

Currently, about 3.5 million Indians live and work in the UAE in various industries. The two countries also recently signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Cepa) to boost trade and ease trade restrictions on various products.

India is the top destination at Dubai International (DXB) Airport in 2022 with 9.8 million passengers, the most of any country.

Dubai’s flag carrier, Emirates, is the third largest at Mumbai Airport with a 10% passenger share, behind IndiGo (17%) and Air India (12%).

From a regional perspective, passenger traffic to the Middle East accounts for 55% of the total passenger traffic at Mumbai Airport.
