Dubai: Announces new traffic fines for delivery drivers-News

The delivery service company faces a fine of Dh2,000 for failing to limit the speed of the bicycle to 100 kilometers per hour.

Deliverymen in Dubai may be fined up to 700 dirhams for violations listed in the new manual issued by the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA).

According to the manual, which also lists the safety requirements for riders, riders in the speeding lane (left lane) may be fined 700 dirhams.

The delivery service company faces a fine of Dh2,000 for failing to limit the speed of the bicycle to 100 kilometers per hour.

Failure to install RTA-approved systems or communication equipment will be fined 500 dirhams per vehicle.

If the delivery vehicle is used for unauthorized purposes, it will also be fined 4,000 dirhams.

Fines for riders

Failure to comply with traffic and road, general safety and health rules and regulations while driving-such as wearing protective equipment (helmets, gloves, reflective jackets)-will be fined 700 dirhams and the offender will be revoked for the third time.

During the delivery period, riders are also not allowed to have rear riders. Riders will face a fine of Dh500, and if they are found to have violated the rules for the third time, the permit will be suspended. Riders are also not allowed to use backpacks when delivering orders. The second violation will face a fine of 500 dirhams and 700 dirhams, and the third violation will be suspended.

Passengers will be fined for transporting prohibited items or items that violate general order/rules. This violation will be fined 700 dirhams.

Delivery place

The delivery location also has strict guidelines.

Renting any means of transport or signing a contract with a party that is not authorized by a licensing agency or a party that does not meet the necessary requirements will be fined 2,000 dirhams, and the agency will have its license revoked due to repeated violations.

Companies that do not meet the specific requirements of the competent authority on the type of materials to be delivered will be fined AED 3,000, and the license will be suspended for the second violation.

Companies that post advertisements or place unauthorized stickers, logos, flags, or symbols on delivery bicycles without the permission of the RTA will be fined Dh5,000. If they commit another offence, they will have to pay a fine of Dh5,000.

The rider must obtain a certificate of good conduct from the Dubai Police. Drivers must be at least 21 years old or over 55 years old. The motorcycles they use shall not exceed 4 years from the date of production.

The manual was developed in coordination with Dubai police and municipal authorities and covers all trade agencies and companies that provide delivery services. This includes the delivery of food, goods and equipment.

RTA stated that delivery service companies and their motorcyclists must strictly abide by the “for the safety of drivers, road users, and the safety of food or materials to be delivered”.
