Dubai begins restoration of Deira Clock Tower roundabout

The Dubai Municipality has begun developing the Deira Clocktower roundabout, enhancing its aesthetic appeal by incorporating hard floors with greenery and multi-coloured lighting, as well as upgrading the fountain design.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: “Dubai Municipality has developed development plans for all the famous landmarks across the emirate, including the Deira Clocktower roundabout, one of the city’s remarkable monuments and architectural landmarks. Dubai’s historic and architectural landmarks, and preserving them for future generations, this project helps the municipality achieve its goal of implementing a high level of sustainable urban planning, which will enhance the city’s attractiveness.”

He said the project is also in line with the Dubai City Master Plan 2040, which outlines a detailed strategy for sustainable urban development in the emirate, with a focus on improving people’s quality of life and well-being, and strengthening the emirate’s global development. Competitiveness.

Jabir Al Ali, director of Dubai Municipality’s General Maintenance Department, said the project, which will last three months, will include decorative gardening, replacing old floors with hard floors, implementing multi-coloured lighting and revamping fountains.

Dubai Municipality will ensure that the new modern design of the roundabout is in line with the theme of Dubai, while preserving the old structure of the clock tower roundabout without destroying its historical or architectural significance.

The Deira Clocktower roundabout is an important historical and architectural landmark and one of the most stunning clock towers in the world.

Built in 1963, the clock tower holds an important place in history as it was the first overland link between Deira and Bur Dubai, at the intersection of Umm Khurair Street and Al Maktoum Street , is one of the most important intersections in Dubai.
