Dubai Can has partnered with talabat, a leading online food delivery service, to expand its fountain location and raise awareness. Fountains have recently been added at four other prominent locations: Hatta, Dubai Sports City, Port Rashid and Dubai Internet City.

As we strive to achieve With all of the city’s sustainability goals and positioning it as the best city in the world to live, work and visit, we look forward to continued success for Dubai, especially in 2023, when it has been declared the UAE’s The Year of Sustainability,” Lootah said.
Changing perceptions and cultivating responsible consumers
The Dubai Canning Initiative has inspired significant change on an individual and community level over the past year, beyond just installing fountains. Its goal is to raise awareness of the harmful effects of single-use plastics and promote the use of reusable bottles not only in drinking fountains, but also in homes, hotels and other places, aiming to change people’s mindsets.
Many private companies in Dubai have been inspired by Dubai Can to install water dispensers in their offices and reduce single-use plastics in the workplace. Most importantly, the campaign encourages UAE residents and visitors to adopt more sustainable behaviours, and to be responsible consumers.

The campaign, now in its second year as part of the UAE Year of Sustainability 2023, has become a driving force behind the city’s sustainability strategy. The initiative’s momentum fits seamlessly with the ban on single-use plastic bags that will come into effect on 1 June 2022, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to environmental protection and waste reduction.
The environmental impact of Dubai Can on the city remains high and the initiative is expected to continue to have a positive impact in the years to come. All water stations throughout the city adhere to the highest sanitation standards and strictly adhere to municipal, healthcare and federal regulations. These stations provide clean and safe drinking water which is tested according to Dewa, GCC and World Health Organization standards. – trade arab news agency
