Dubai Chamber of Commerce launches cloud computing business group

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has established a Cloud Computing Business Group to connect companies in the industry and encourage productive dialogue on ways to advance and embed cloud computing services.

Commenting on the launch, Maha AlGargawi, Executive Director, Business Advocacy, Dubai Chamber, said: “As one of the most future-fit countries in the world, a cloud-driven advanced digital infrastructure is critical to supporting Dubai’s goal of fully integrating digital technology into all governments. operation and planning.

“The establishment of the Cloud Computing Business Group is a pillar of this infrastructure as it will encourage transparent dialogue among its members and support the industry in advocating for beneficial policy changes that will enhance its competitiveness.”

Miguel Villalonga, CEO of e&enterprise Cloud, one of the founding members of the business group, added: “The establishment of the business group comes at an opportune time as cloud computing has become an integral part of the ecosystem for businesses and the wider Dubai economy. “It will serve as a platform for fruitful discussions among stakeholders in the industry. This collaboration can leverage expertise while aiming to enhance the cloud computing landscape in the UAE. It is in line with our efforts to be a leading digital enabler of cloud solutions efforts resonate.”

Omid Mahboubi, founder of Mena Cloud Alliance and co-founder of the Cloud Computing Business Group, echoed a similar sentiment, saying, “I look forward to having a constructive dialogue with fellow members of the industry on ways and means we can support enterprises in the cloud computing space. A catalyst for the full adoption of cloud computing by organizations of all sizes.”

The adoption of cloud technology has enabled businesses in Dubai to become more agile, flexible and efficient, helping to drive innovation and competitiveness in the local economy.

The UAE has consistently outperformed 15 other countries in the MENA region as the most cloud-competitive economy. Between 2022 and 2030, UAE-based SMEs and start-ups are expected to reap a total of US$17.1 billion (AED62.6 billion) in economic benefits from hyperscale cloud computing, equivalent to 2.3 percent of the UAE’s 2021 GDP.

The newly established cloud computing business group will focus on promoting the development of cloud computing companies and enhancing the reputation of Dubai’s cloud service industry in the international business community. By providing a forum to facilitate mutual dialogue between industry stakeholders and government entities, the business group will address policy issues relevant to the industry, among others.

The new business group is part of the Chamber’s plan to increase the number of business groups representing economic sectors and activities in Dubai. As representatives and credible advocates of their respective business sectors, they play a vital role in recommending policy changes to enhance the sector’s competitiveness and attractiveness, while promoting international best practice and supporting economic growth.
