The Dubai Court of Appeal has amended the decision of the Court of First Instance against a 28-year-old Arab man.
Charged with drug use for the fourth time, he was jailed for two years and ordered to pay a Dh100,000 fine
The accused appeared in court and pleaded for clemency after expressing remorse.
The court was satisfied with the incriminating evidence but decided to apply the law which is most suitable for the accused, which is Federal Act No. 30 of 2021. This reduces the penalty to not less than three months’ imprisonment or a fine of not less than Dh20,000.
The court decided to reduce his sentence to a fine of Dh30,000.
