Dubai Customs to complete 25.7m transactions, seize 2,147 in 2022

Dubai Customs completed 25.7 million customs transactions in 2022 while maintaining the highest level of security at the emirate’s borders, with 2,147 seizures.

The department handled 388 intellectual property disputes in 2022, including 14.5 million counterfeit goods with a street value of AED109.5 million (US$30 million). It also actively takes back counterfeit goods, conducting more than 93 take-backs throughout the year, targeting 173,000 counterfeit goods.

As the emirate’s oldest government department, Dubai Customs has been an active player in the UAE’s progress throughout 2022, excelling in customs transactions, seizures and creative services, according to a report by WAM.

Awards and Honors

It has won several global awards and honors and has launched a series of innovative products aimed at reducing costs and increasing revenues for clients, which has helped attract more foreign investment into the trading sector and affiliated sectors.

“Promoting Dubai’s external trade and facilitating traders and investors is part of our strategic plan, in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. priorities,” said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zones Company. “This will strengthen the emirate’s position in global competitiveness indices and indicators and facilitate mutual trade.”

Musabih added: “The Dubai government’s total budget for the 2023-2025 financial cycle, with a total expenditure of AED 205 billion (US$ 56 billion), will attract more investment into the emirate. From our side, we are Our strategy in full swing 2021-2026 plan is based on five principles: agile, innovative, digital, disruptive, visionary, following four main objectives to increase revenue, reduce costs and maintain the organization’s global leadership. He said the UAE is gaining exposure to more key markets thanks to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed with key partners. Agreements signed with India, Israel and Indonesia opened a new chapter in trade.
