Dubai explores new high-speed ropeway transportation system-News

The self-propelled cabin will move on ropes at speeds of up to 45 km/h.

A new agreement signed in Dubai will allow the authorities to explore the development of urban ropeways.

The Dubai Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with French transportation expert MND, which is a leading company in the ropeway industry.

The CABLINE system developed by MND aims to provide a “new experience” for air transportation.

CABLINE aims to integrate and connect the city’s existing multimodal transport network. The fully automatic unmanned transportation system has a self-propelled cab that can move on ropes at speeds of up to 45 km/h.

It uses a minimalist infrastructure, easy to integrate, and takes up minimal space. It is more beautiful, quieter and more energy-efficient than traditional ropeway transportation.

CABLINE makes maintenance easier to “guarantee the high availability of the urban transportation system and provide the best service for passengers.”

This agreement is in line with RTA’s efforts to achieve Dubai’s vision that 25% of all travel by 2030 will be self-driving.

Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, Chief Executive Officer of Rail Agency, said: “Developing advanced and innovative transportation systems and improving Dubai’s sustainable transportation network (will) encourage people and tourists to use public transportation.

“MND is the leading group for ropeway infrastructure (ie) research on new driverless high-speed systems. MND’s CABLINE system is flexible, energy-efficient, and has little impact on the urban environment,” he added.

Xavier Gallot-Lavallée, CEO of MND said: “We believe that the CABLINE technology being developed by our ropeway design center in the French Alps can contribute to a new urban transportation experience. Our engineering team has been working hard for the past few years. Complete the design and make CABLINE a unique disruptive technology to ease urban traffic.”

This agreement is one of many agreements signed by the RTA to explore new and futuristic transportation methods for the emirate.

In June, the authorities signed an agreement to explore the development of a suspended transportation network. The agreement was signed with the Zhongtang Sky Railway Group, which is behind the sky train, with a maximum speed of 65 kilometers per hour.

In April of this year, Dubai announced that it would become the first city outside the United States to operate Cruise driverless taxis.

In June 2019, RTA signed an agreement with SkyTran, which developed the Sky Pod device.

In February last year, it signed another agreement with BeemCar Ltd., one of the world’s largest developers of aerial pods.

In February 2019, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, was testing two Sky Pods models developed by Skyway Greentech Co..
