Dubai Expo City Walkathon attracts over 1,000 Emirati students, educators

More than 1,000 students from 25 schools across the UAE took part in a walkathon at Expo City Dubai on Friday to spread the word about the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle and to mark the end of an exciting month full of fitness activities .

The Expo City Schools Walkathon is an event launched by the Expo Schools Program in partnership with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Dubai Fitness Challenge, bringing together students and teachers aged 8 to 14 for a 2km loop around Expo City , starting and ending at Terra Arrivals Plaza.

Marjan Faraidooni, Director of Education and Culture, Dubai Expo City, said: “From the beginning, we have committed to bringing learning beyond the classroom through rich real-life experiences, and by doing so, we have witnessed the incredible impact this has made” About Mind and Body healthy. The walkathon marks the conclusion of Expo City’s participation in the month-long Dubai Fitness Challenge, which culminated on 27 November and further strengthens its close relationship with the UAE’s education community, highlighting the city’s status as an education hub effect.

Young people have made an extraordinary contribution to the success of Expo 2020 Dubai through the vibrant Expo Schools programme, which has returned to Dubai Expo City to empower today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.

On Thursday, November 24, the popular Expo Young Stars program resumes at Al Wasl Plaza with performances by students from Indian High Schools – Al Garhoud, New Delhi Private Schools and GEMS Legacy School, while Ambassador School and Cadenza Conservatory of Music will bring stage later on Friday.

Designed by the Expo School Program to nurture emerging talent, Expo Young Stars offers students from across the UAE the opportunity to showcase their enthusiasm and creativity through interpretive performances at Expo City Dubai. As Expo Dubai gathers momentum ahead of hosting COP28 in 2023, the five schools have been specifically selected to repeat their influential Expo 2020 Dubai performances that highlighted the urgency of tackling climate change.
