He said he sat next to the body for an hour after the murder.

A 32-year-old Asian gardener was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Dubai Criminal Court for strangling a 75-year-old employer while sleeping. The defendant confessed to the authorities that he murdered his guarantor because he was very talkative and often complained. He said he sat next to the body for an hour after the murder.

According to investigations by the police and public prosecutors, the victim’s wife stated that she took the child out to play. When she returned at night, the defendant met her at the entrance and told her that the victim had fallen to the ground. But she saw a piece of cloth wrapped around his neck. She believes that he fell because of high sugar, because he had diabetes and entered a coma. She then notified the police.

She said that when the ambulance came, the defendant gave her husband’s cell phone. The medical team in the ambulance told her that the victim had died. When the police arrived, the defendant had disappeared from the scene.

In addition to suffering from diabetes, her husband also underwent surgery on one eye and was unable to hear clearly or walk alone. However, she said that he was mentally strong.

Preliminary investigation revealed that he had a cloth around his neck, and the suspicious disappearance of the defendant when the police arrived indicated that this was a criminal act. The wife said that the defendant must have escaped because he was funded by other people and worked illegally.

The CID team managed to locate the defendant and arrest him.

During the interrogation, he admitted that he was a gardener, and the victim’s son persuaded him to serve his elderly father with a monthly salary of Dh2,000. He said that he had worked for two months, but his salary was only Dh800. Later, his salary was cut to 600 dirhams.

He also stated that the victim abused him, even insulted and beat him with a stick. On the day of the incident, the victim asked him to make tea and hookah. However, the victim beat him for being late, and the defendant pushed him to the ground and asked him to stop beating him.

According to the defendant, the victim then stood up and slapped him. Then the defendant pushed him again and squatted on him; he said that the victim resisted and tried to wrap the defendant’s neck with a white cloth. But he pulled it out of him and strangled the victim and made sure he was dead. Then he sat next to his body for an hour after committing the crime.
