A former UAE resident has been announced as the latest $1 million winner of the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion in a drawing held at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday.
Prasanth Thirunavukarasu, 29, an Indian national residing in Chennai, bought ticket number 3059 of Millennium Millionaire Series 423 online on May 11 and won US$1 million.
Thirunavukarasu, a first-time ticket buyer, quit his job at Commercial Bank of Dubai a year later to return to India to care for his elderly parents. He purchased the last remaining ticket available online on the day of his flight to India.
When asked about his initial plans for winning the lottery, he said: “Of course, winning this lottery will help me take care of my elderly and sick parents. Also, I will save money for the marriage of my two younger sisters. Very Thank you Dubai Duty Free! Now I can take full responsibility for my parents and family,” he added.
Thirunavukarasu is the 210th Indian national to win $1 million since the Millennium Millionaire promotion began in 1999, and the Indian national was the biggest buyer of tickets.
Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, there was a Best of Surprise draw for three luxury vehicles. Krunal Mithani, a 37-year-old Indian national living in Dubai, won a Mercedes Benz S500 (Mojave Silver) in the Finest Surprise Series 1839, ticket number 1495, which he bought online on April 26 car.
Mithani has been a regular participant in Dubai Duty Free promotions for 5 years running and is no stranger to winning awards for Dubai Duty Free having won twice previously. He first won an Aprila Dorsoduro 900 (Exciting Dark) motorcycle with ticket number 0807 in Finest Surprise Series 414 in July 2020, and then won a BMW with ticket number 0364 in Finest Surprise Series 1780 in August 750Li xDrive M Sport (Black Sapphire Metallic) Automobile 2021.
Mithani, a father of one, works as an IT manager for a shipping company in Dubai. “Firstly, I thank God, and secondly, Dubai Duty Free. I’m lucky that I won not once, but three times,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hasnain Wajid, a 48-year-old Pakistani national living in Jeddah, won a BMW X5 Competition (Sanremo Green Metallic) race car in the Finest Surprise Series 1840 with ticket number 0681, which he bought online on 14 May this racing car.
For 5 years, Wajid has been a frequent visitor to Dubai Duty Free promotions, a father of two, and a manager, finance and administration role for an airline. “I am very grateful to Dubai Duty Free, they have changed so many lives and I am happy to be part of it,” he said.
Finally, Stephane Debommarez, a Frenchman living in France, won a BMW F 850 GS (Black Storm Metallic) motorcycle in Finest Surprise Series 539, ticket number 0383, which she bought online on April 30 car. Debommarez couldn’t be reached at the moment, but doubts will be surprised when she learns he won.
