Dubai Investment Park goes green with LED lighting retrofit project

[ad_1]

Dubai Investment Park (DIP), a unique commercial, industrial and residential complex in the Middle East, said it has completed a LED lighting retrofit project in identified areas within the DIP as part of implementing sustainable solutions.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments, DIP said that under this, more than 1,355 sodium street lights have been replaced with LED street lights, providing better lighting and greater energy efficiency, while enhancing visual appeal and promoting DIP internal security environment.

It said the project would help save 700,000 kWh of energy annually.

With a 10-year life expectancy and providing 50,000 hours of lighting per month, an LED lighting project implemented by DIP will require less maintenance and consume less electricity.

The decision to replace was based on studies demonstrating that the steady light output decays by less than 1% per year over the life of the unit compared to other conventional lamps.

Omar Al Mesmar, General Manager of DIP, said: “We are committed to improving the well-being of our people and are focused on providing DIP with first-class infrastructure. Our street lighting installation project is an important aspect of continuous improvement.”

“Aiming to be one of the greenest developments in the region, we took care to complement our initiatives to promote and encourage sustainable lifestyles. In line with the UAE Government’s green vision, we decided to install street lighting with LED solutions,” he noted.

As part of the company’s infrastructure improvement plan, DIP partnered with Litetech Industries, a subsidiary of Dubai Investments and a pioneer in the manufacture of lighting fixtures and environmentally friendly LED accessories, to install LED lights.

“With its proven track record, the company was the ideal partner for this project, demonstrating design innovation and execution excellence,” said Al Mesmar.

According to him, the LED light implementation project is also aimed at improving safety.

“As part of DIP’s macro approach to occupational health and safety, the company is committed to preventing and minimizing any adverse occupational health, safety and environmental impacts,” he added.trade arab news agency
