Dubai Metro routes in 2020: why these residents abandon their cars-News

[ad_1]

Sunil K is an engineer who has lived in Dubai for 16 years and lives in Al Furjan. He is such a resident who switched from a car to a subway.

On Wednesday, the first train was ready to enter the Jumeirah Golf Estate Metro Station-Dubai’s largest underground metro station-residents praised the 2020 route as a great blessing, and some even planned to abandon their cars.

Although most residents say that it makes daily commuting easier and more convenient, some people have even given up their cars and switched to subways since they started operations on January 1, 2020.

Dubai: Jumeirah Golf Estate Metro Station will open on September 1

Sunil K is an engineer who has lived in Dubai for 16 years and lives in Al Furjan. He is such a resident who switched from a car to a subway. “My office is located in Barsha Heights. After the opening of Route in 2020, I started to take the subway from Al Furjan Metro Station to Dubai Internet City and get off. It is very convenient for me, and it is a good exercise, because from my home to the subway It’s a 10-minute walk from the station. Besides, I don’t have to spend money on fuel, so it has a double benefit,” Sunil said.

Edward, who doesn’t drive a car, has been using Dubai’s efficient public transportation system for 17 years. The graphic designer of Discovery Gardens said that the 2020 route will allow him to easily go to the Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) for office. “It’s really helpful for me because I live in Discovery Gardens, and because I don’t drive, if I have to go to the city, I have to rely on taxis, buses or subways. I work at JLT and I used to take a taxi. Or take a bus to Ibn Battuta MRT station, and sometimes take a taxi directly to JLT. These are my previous choices, but now, with the opening of Route 2020, it becomes very convenient. It only takes 5 minutes to walk to Garden MRT station , I can now reach my workplace faster. The 2020 route has greatly reduced my commuting time,” Edwards said.

2020 Dubai Metro Route: 4 new stations open to the public

“Even if I have to go to town, such as Al Rashidiya, it is convenient because it is a straight line. This is also true when I go home from anywhere. In addition, it is difficult to get to Dubai Investment Park because it is very isolated. Now, It’s much easier to reach DIP. Discovery Gardens and The Gardens are a huge residential area that can help many people who don’t drive,” he added.

Mrinmay, another resident who explored the garden, also called the 2020 route a blessing. “The problem is that you won’t be stuck on the road. You know exactly when you can leave and when you can reach your destination. Before, if I had to get to Al Karama quickly, I used to take a taxi. I used to work in Al Quoz. It’s very inconvenient to wait for the bus and then take the subway. So, it actually takes a lot of time for me to get to the office. Depending on when I get on the bus, I need about 45 minutes to an hour.” Mrinmay, who has been in Dubai for 10 years Say.

Dubai: Residents near Highway 2020 welcome new subway stations for more convenient commuting

“Now, it’s a short walk to the subway station, which is good for my health, and it takes about 45 minutes to get from home to my current work place in Dubai Healthcare City. Another advantage is that I can sit at work, This makes it more comfortable. We are lucky to stay here and be able to use Route 2020. It also provides me with a wider scope of work and makes life easier,” said the gallery manager.

New station opened ahead of schedule

The Jumeirah Golf Estate subway station was originally scheduled to open during the 2020 World Expo, but it will open one month before the world’s largest exhibition.

The station is part of the 2020 route and will connect residential communities such as IMPZ, Dubai Production City and Dubai Sports City to the metro network.

The new station covers an area of 28,700 square meters. It can serve 11,555 passengers per hour during peak hours and approximately 250,000 passengers per day. It has two boarding platforms, four bus stations, 20 taxi stands and 400 free parking lots, of which 20 are dedicated to people with lofty ideals.

The opening of the station is eight months after the opening of the route in 2020. The virgin road of the route starts at four stations: Jebel Ali (Red Line Interchange), Garden, Discovery Garden, and Al Furjan. The Dubai Investment Park and the Expo 2020 station opened in June this year.

The stations on this route benefit thousands of residents in communities such as Al Furjan, DIP and Discovery Gardens and help them connect with the center of Dubai.
