A Canadian entrepreneur wants to build a 900-foot-tall, moon-inspired spherical structure atop a Dubai skyscraper, and the proposed $5 billion site could reportedly house a casino.

Moon World Resorts co-founder Michael Henderson launched the project on the Arabian travel market earlier this month. The location of the moon has not yet been determined. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, the Pearl of Dubai and the Palm Jebel Ali are also ideas. The Palm Jebel Ali is still unfinished, and The Pearl of Dubai is a now-abandoned luxury apartment complex. Demolition work there began in January.

Henderson’s proposed projects include a destination resort within a spherical structure, including a 4,000-room hotel, a 10,000-seat arena and a “moon colony” that would give guests the experience of actually walking on the moon. feeling,” the report said Associated Press.

The building is expected to be fully circular and glow at night, though Henderson noted that it will include both full and new moon options.

Moon may shine in UAE, but casinos have no hope

Currently, casino gaming is not permitted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but there is momentum for change in this area — much of it driven by Wynn Resorts.

Las Vegas-based Wynn and local partners plan to open the $3.9 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island in early 2027, and the integrated resort is expected to be allowed to offer wagering.probably a casino only 4% The property is 5.6 million square feet, but that would make it larger than Wynn Las Vegas gaming space.

When Wynn reported its first-quarter results earlier this month, CEO Craig Billings said the UAE venue could generate $450 million to $600 million Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA).

It is well known that gaming operators want to offer gaming services in the UAE. The emirates have vast oil and real estate wealth and are the financial and tourism capitals of the Middle East.

Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts International are preparing to open non-gaming hotels in the area and may jump at the opportunity to open casinos at their properties. So while MOON may not be able to offer gaming immediately, it could at least be ready for future amenities, provided the UAE relaxes its view on gaming.

While the Moon may conjure up MSG fieldComing to debut on the Las Vegas Strip, there are notable differences between the two projects, not the least of which is that, at $5 billion, Moon will cost more than double that of the Las Vegas Sphere.

Beyond that, MOON, if built, would be perfectly circular. Not so with MSG Sphere.Henderson told Associated Press MOON will also offer a variety of lighting options to reduce light pollution and disturb local residents.

MSG Sphere didn’t initially plan to have its own casino, but it’s located near several of the Strip’s larger venues.
