The move, in line with the UAE’s Emiratisation policy and Dubai’s vision for the future, will further improve the human capital of the municipality and increase the skills and capabilities of the workforce.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: “The Municipality seeks to provide new opportunities for Emirati capabilities and instill a youthful spirit in its cadre as a key pillar in increasing the rate of Emiratization.”

He said this was in line with the strengthening of the “Principle of 50”, an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which focuses primarily on human capital Importance as a key driver of future growth and the need to attract skilled talent and professionals.

Al Hajri added: “We are very pleased to welcome 150 young Emirati talents with diverse engineering and scientific backgrounds to our workforce. We believe this will empower our professional national cadre and assist the municipality in fulfilling its mission , providing the best services and planning and implementing quality projects in Dubai.”

The city has hired new staff across a range of disciplines, including engineering fields such as construction, civil, mechatronic and electrical engineering, as well as some veterinarians.

Dubai Municipality launched the Future of Careers program during the ‘Ru’ya Careers UAE Redefined’ job fair in September. The first phase of the program aims to attract and sponsor 45 candidates by offering them various training and development opportunities in partnership with the private sector.

The first stage is divided into two parts, the first part is composed of college students selected according to the fields and future majors required by the city. The second category includes municipal employees and aims to improve their theoretical, practical and field knowledge in the fields of 3D printing, food safety, artificial intelligence and digital data science.
