RTA stated that the viral image of a license plate of this type has not been officially recognized.
Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has denied issuing license plates bearing the owner’s name.
In a statement to Khaleej Times, RTA stated that the virus images of the plates have not been officially recognized.
“What we want to clarify is that (the) RTA has not yet launched this kind of license plate design with names. We confirm that any new model of license plate is announced through RTA’s official channels,” the agency added.

It all started when Twitter user @HamadAlMajidi shared a picture of a Dubai license plate with “7AMAD” instead of a number.
He suggested that the authorities could introduce such license plates in Dubai. As the picture went viral on the Internet, Al Majidi clarified that the plate was a decoration he received from an American website five years ago.
“This section has nothing to do with RTA,” he wrote on Twitter.
Some countries/regions in the world allow car owners to use words instead of numbers to personalize their license plates. However, this type of license plate is not yet available in the UAE.
