Dubai RTA offers scholarships in partnership with government departments

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to enhance the academic and professional skills of Emirati students through a scholarship programme.

The programme, carried out by the Ministry of Education at numerous universities and institutes around the world, aims to develop the competencies and skills of Emiratis so that they can cope with rapidly evolving technologies and the growing demands on the public transport sector.

The agreement calls for a cohort of high academic achievers among Emirati students to study undergraduate courses at prestigious universities and international institutions in various fields, including transportation engineering, railway engineering, robotics engineering, infrastructure engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and Transport Economics.

“By partnering with national entities, the Ministry of Education is seeking to develop capable Emiratis under the vision of ‘Towards the Next 50’ and the directives of our leaders, making the UAE number one in the world in economic and human indicators,” said Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mualla, Deputy Minister for Academic Affairs, Ministry of Education.

Al Mualla stressed the importance of strategic collaboration with RTA to help prepare the UAE at top global academic institutions to meet future demands, which require qualified human resources and fostering a competitive knowledge community.

“The Ministry of Education has launched various training programmes for students in various fields, such as ‘Intilaqa’, aimed at enabling them to acquire professional qualifications that are strategically high priority in the UAE. In addition to promoting lifelong learning in a way that suits their professional interests, knowledge and abilities Culturally, these programs will allow them to hone their skills and prepare them to work in a competitive environment,” he added.

Yousef Al Redha, Chief Executive Officer of RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Division, expressed his delight at the signing of the agreement. “This agreement marks an important step forward in expanding cooperation and reaching common goals in the academic and professional fields,” he said.
“As part of the agreement, the RTA and the Ministry of Education will strengthen existing collaborations, working with other competent entities to create sustainable and productive strategic partnerships to develop scientific and practical skills in the UAE. The programme aims to send outstanding and Qualified students study abroad at prestigious higher education institutions whose fields meet the academic standards of the country and are among the best globally. The aim is to develop a culturally and intellectually rich generation of Emirati, capable of taking leadership positions in various fields, ‘ he added.

“This collaboration begins before students receive scholarships and includes programs and initiatives from both parties aimed at honing students’ academic and professional skills. Scholarships also include mentoring, follow-up and motivation to ensure continued education until the post-graduation stage , through the training and job opportunities provided by the relevant entities to serve the various sectors of the country and achieve the strategic objectives of all parties,” explained Al Redha.

“The agreement requires both parties to develop and acquire competent Emiratis in a wide range of fields, and to exchange ideas and information to enhance cooperation and serve the objectives of the agreement. The agreement calls for the formulation of tasks assigned to both parties, and the identification of requirements and provision of these It also calls for training and employment opportunities during and after the scholarship,” concluded Al Redha. – arab trade news agency
