Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been honoured with the 2022 Government Technology Innovation Award, the Government Pioneer of the Year, for its Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3).
One of the most advanced control centres in the world, EC3 controls and integrates all modes of public transport in Dubai. The facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology for integrating and controlling all public transport and supports the smooth and efficient flow of people throughout Dubai.
“EC3 deserves the Government Pioneer of the Year Award in recognition of its achievements and support for Expo 2020 visitors. It provides visitors with the necessary information about the location of available public transport to and from the site. The award also recognizes EC3’s oversight of and coordinating the efforts of the emirate’s competent agencies to respond to the emergency,” said Nasser Abu Shehab, Chief Executive Officer, Strategy and Corporate Governance, RTA.
“A key achievement for EC3 in winning the award is its ability to use data analytics to accurately predict and monitor traffic on a daily basis, as well as manage an intermodal network of taxis, buses, subways, trams and roads.
“RTA is committed to developing EC3, which aims to manage Dubai’s transport network in a way that provides smooth and reliable transport services that can be optimised to keep up with changing demands, as has been the case during the Covid-19 pandemic. This ensures business continuity and provides smart screens to manage and track events, which facilitates the implementation of an integrated communication system,” added Abu Shehab road.
The GovTech Innovation Awards aims to recognise government agencies and individuals leading the transformation and digital transformation of information technology by proposing solutions, initiatives and programmes aimed at improving the well-being of UAE communities.
