Media Committee Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has offered his condolences to FIA President Mohammad bin Sulayem following the death of his son.
Saif Mohmmed Bin Sulayem died in Dubai on Tuesday after being in a coma for months in a car accident.
Saif Bin Sulayem has died, a spokesman for racing’s governing body the FIA confirmed on Friday.
The FIA added that its president had requested privacy and that neither he nor the FIA would issue a statement on the matter.
Saif Mohammed Bin Sulayem followed in his father’s footsteps into the sport after starting his racing career.
He competed against current F1 stars Logan Sargeant and Oscar Piastri in the 2016-17 UAE Formula 3 series. He was involved in a car accident about two years ago and fell into a coma, a family member said.
Saif’s father, former rally champion Mohammed Ahmed bin Sulayem, was elected FIA president in December 2021, and played an important role in restructuring the organisation.
The Emirates Motorsports Organization, the UAE’s national motorsports body, was one of many entities sending condolences to the bereaved family.
