A new program launched in Dubai on Monday offers up to $10 million in awards for future innovative solutions.
Dubai Future Solutions is a global initiative facing a series of challenges that will bring together scientists, designers, inventors, universities, research centers, companies and start-ups from all over the world to create innovative solutions that improve people’s lives.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, said: “The plan aims to accelerate the application of emerging technologies in future designs.
“Dubai has always been and will continue to be a place to nurture innovation, and we seek to continuously explore ways to further enhance the emirate’s position on the global innovation map.”
He emphasized that the UAE is committed to providing talents with the resources they need to transform their ideas into “global success stories” and provide them with support.
“The world of technology and innovation is evolving at an alarming rate, and we want to be the pioneers of the industry in the future. We are always ready to take advantage of new opportunities and respond to any challenges that the evolving technological world may bring.”
The program provides a platform for innovators to showcase their ideas for solving some of the world’s key challenges.
The program focuses on energy, transportation, health, education, artificial intelligence, and data, allowing innovators to test their pioneering ideas.
Funding successful projects
Successful ideas will become the “starting point” for creating new sectors, economies and markets. These teams will develop sustainable solutions that serve humanity and establish global partnerships based on the exchange of experience and knowledge transfer.
Round 1: High-efficiency battery
The first challenge is to make extremely weatherproof batteries. Teams from all over the world will compete to improve the battery’s performance and durability in inclement weather. This will promote their use in areas such as space or oil and gas.

Selection committee and registration method

Participants can submit their ideas online at www.dubaifuture.ae/dubai-future-solutions. The proposed solution must be “efficient, economical, universal, and implementable immediately.”
According to the Dubai Future Foundation website, the plan will be divided into the following stages:
