The India Pavilion project at Expo 2020 Dubai, the India Innovation Centre and the Integrated Free Zone Technology Park Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) have joined forces to sign a Letter of Intent (LoI) to support the startup ecosystems of both countries.
As part of the participation, unicorns from India will be brought to Dubai, where the DSO will host the “Uplift” conference, the flagship investor pitch series of the Indian Innovation Hub.
The announcement was made during the tenth edition of the Elevate Series at Silicon Oasis in Dubai, where 50 startups presented a range of innovative business ideas to global investors, and India’s startup and startup ecosystem once again demonstrated its capabilities.
The event was attended by Dr. Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai and Deputy General Representative of India for Expo 2020 Dubai; Dr. Juma Al Matrooshi, Director General, Dubai Silicon Oasis; and Ghanim Al Falasi, Senior Vice President, Technology and Entrepreneurship, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and other senior officials from both parties Together.
Startups from industries including healthcare, fintech, food and beverage, energy, space, software-as-a-service (SaaS), logistics and technology presented their ideas to global investors in a popular pitch series backed by HSBC.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Puri expressed his pleasure to participate in the signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent between the DSO, the Indian Innovation Centre and the Indian Consulate General in Dubai.

Regarding India and Dubai’s growing partnership in the entrepreneurship sector, Dr Matrooshi said: “We are delighted to expand our collaboration with the Indian Innovation Centre, following a delegation visit to DSO and Dtec earlier this year and mutual commitment to support technology-focused startups in both countries.”
“The UAE and India recognise the critical role of start-ups and SMEs in the national economy and are keen to support their establishment and development. “It’s a key platform for them to come up with ideas, attract investment, connect with like-minded people, and get constructive feedback that will help them develop their products further. I urge entrepreneurs to keep working hard and focus on the prize,” he noted.
Some Indian startups showing their business ideas include PrognoAdvisor, an early-stage fintech startup offering financial wellness to corporate employees; Kalki Ecosphere, a startup working on developing sustainable solutions as an alternative to single-use plastic bottled water , while EXPRESSbase is an open-source, low-code platform for rapidly growing SMEs and governments to build internal process applications and more.
