The taxi industry in Dubai has experienced strong growth, reaching a staggering 6% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
According to the Emirates News Agency, this figure is 5% higher than the level reported in the same period in 2019 WAM.
“Dubai’s taxi industry has enjoyed a remarkable growth trajectory over the past five years. A staggering 27.3 million taxi trips were made in the first quarter of this year, a continued upward trend compared to the same period in previous years. These figures are for 2022. 26 million trips, 19.2 million trips in 2021, 23.3 million trips in 2020 and 26.1 million trips in 2019,” said Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development, RTA Public Transport Authority.
“The industry has experienced an unprecedented surge, marking the highest growth in recent years, especially e-hailing services, smart rental services and hala taxi services. The data and ratio analysis of the industry in the first quarter of 2023 reflect the Dubai economy. The thriving development of the region has strengthened its position as a key global investment and tourism hub,” Shakri added.
