Dubai’s agritourism project to create 10,000 jobs

URB, a global leader in developing sustainable cities, plans to develop the world’s largest agritourism destination in Dubai, providing food security and entertainment, while creating more than 10,000 jobs and promoting a green economy.

Set in the desert of Dubai, URB’s Agri Hub project is planned to promote a new kind of agritourism experience while offering fun and adventure with services and amenities.

Agritourism, short for agritourism, is generally defined as the visit by the public to a farm for educational, recreational or retail purposes. One of the main benefits of agritourism is the sustainability of rural communities, heritage and cultural landscapes. Agritourism provides green employment opportunities, thereby increasing the income of local residents. It also improves the quality of life for farmers and consumers, while improving the environment and enriching local culture.

The new center will also house a nature and heritage conservation centre, an ecotourism centre, an agricultural technology institute and a restorative health centre.

Baharash Bagherian, CEO of URB, explained the importance of the project in transforming Dubai’s rural and suburban areas into popular destinations: “Dubai’s rural and agri-rich communities have the best potential to become the global benchmark for agritourism. Agri Hub is an attractive and An event-rich environment that will transform Dubai into the world’s finest rural tourism destination.

“It will provide space for local farmers to sell their produce directly from the farm, while providing visitors with new eco-friendly shopping, dining and edutainment experiences. As well as being a new tourism experience for Dubai’s countryside and wilderness, the project will promote The health, wellbeing and prosperity of local rural residents. Ultimately, it will serve as an innovative blueprint for future decarbonized rural tourism hubs.”

The typology of the center offers visitors a unique agritourism experience while giving them a sense of being outside of nature. The agricultural center is woven into the unique landscape, offering outdoor recreational facilities, campsites and lodges. Some of the environmental features of the project include 100% renewable energy, 100% water recycling, bio-saline agriculture, a green transportation system and zero waste management on site. – trade arab news agency
