Dubai’s DMCC, India’s BSAF to boost UAE’s agricultural trade with South Asia

DUBAI – DMCC – the world’s flagship free zone and the Dubai Government’s Commodities Trade and Enterprise Authority – has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bharat Subcontinent Agriculture Foundation (BSAF) to drive global agriculture between the UAE and India ( agri) Commodities Sector South Asia.

The agreement was signed by DMCC Executive Chairman and CEO Ahmed bin Sulayem; BSAF Chairman Sudhakar Tomar at the inaugural South Asia Agricultural Summit in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Targeting the growth of the global agrifood industry and consolidating agricultural trade ties between the UAE and the South Asian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, the MoU will see DMCC and BSAF become partners in FoodTech and AgriTech projects, Share potential business opportunities and enhance knowledge transfer through exhibitions and conferences.

On signing the agreement, Bin Sulayem said: “DMCC has a long and proud record of doing business with South Asia. Today, we have more than 4,250 members from across the region, covering agriculture and many other fields. The timing of this MoU is strategic as trade between the UAE and South Asia has surged in recent years and will only grow further with the signing of new CEPA agreements and food trade corridors, including most recently the UAE-India CEPA.”

Tomar, in turn, said: “We are delighted to partner with DMCC to open a new chapter in agricultural trade between South Asia and the UAE. This dynamic new partnership will provide important Strengthening connectivity and enhancing food security in South Asia at the global level.”
