The Columbia Pavilion kicked off a three-day celebration of International Jaguar Day at the Expo 2020 Dubai. The commemorative event will last until November 30, 2021, and its feature is a series of activities aimed at promoting the protection of jaguar and biodiversity.
Doladin business group ISA took the lead in organizing activities in the pavilion. Other attractions include murals and live art, which will emphasize the importance of jaguars in the ecosystem and address what might happen if they disappear.
Visitors will also appreciate the works of famous graphic artists who have been helping to raise environmental awareness. They will also have the opportunity to watch the artist’s live painting on the Jaguar.

International Jaguar Day is celebrated every year to help protect the largest wildcat in the Americas, the jaguar, which is an umbrella species for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. In seven conservation projects located in the Jaguar Corridor in Colombia, Brazil and Peru, nearly 800 hectares of forests have been protected and 6 million tons of carbon dioxide may be reduced.”
“Consistent with the goal of mitigating climate change, ISA will purchase carbon credits from its Conexión Jaguar sustainability plan to offset the carbon footprint of the Columbia Pavilion during the three-day event,” Correa also revealed.
Carbon credits are defined as “measurable and verifiable emissions reductions from certified climate action projects.” ISA will use the carbon credits to further help restore more than 2.2 hectares of land damaged by cattle farms in Cimitara, Magdalena Medio, Colombia. This area is considered to be one of the most critical points for re-establishing connectivity in the Colombian Jaguar Corridor.
In addition, these resources will be used to support the continuous planting of endangered native trees such as Abarco, and to protect the country’s five critically endangered species. The five species are Colombia, blue-billed finches, Magdalena brown spider monkeys, white-tailed deer, cotton-top tamarins (Saguinusoedipus) and black-headed spider monkeys.
It is expected that more than 2,000 tourists will participate in the celebrations of the Columbia Pavilion in the Expo site every day. In Bogota, the iconic Colpatria Tower and replicas of the Taj Mahal and Maloka Cosmica in Jaime Duke Park are covered with jaguar textures and jungle designs through lighting and 3D mapping created by famous national artists .
