Dubai: Some flights to Dubai International Airport (DXB) have been diverted to other airports due to bad weather conditions.
“Dubai Airports can confirm that normal operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) have been disrupted due to adverse weather conditions this afternoon, causing 10 inbound flights to be diverted to Dubai World Centre (DWC) and other neighbouring airports,” Dubai Airports said in a statement stated in the statement. statement.
“Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines and all of our service partners to minimise the impact of disruption and resume normal operations as early as possible,” the airport operator said.
Emirates could not be immediately reached for comment, but budget airline flydubai said the dusty weather had caused some delays.
“The severe weather conditions in Dubai today caused delays to some of our inbound and outbound flights,” an airline spokesman said.
“We are continuing to monitor the situation and we apologise for the inconvenience the poor weather conditions may have caused our passengers,” flydubai said.
Several flights by Air India and Air India Express were also delayed, according to an airline spokesman.
The Air India Express flight (IX 142) from Dubai to Delhi took off nearly three hours later than scheduled.
The Dubai-Kochi Air India (AI934) flight was delayed for 5 hours and was expected to arrive at its destination only before 11.35pm. The plane is expected to land in Kochi at 7:00 pm.
At 7.20pm, IX 162 to Trich and IX 248 to Mumbai were still on the ground.
