DXB to remain ‘extraordinarily busy’ over next two weeks

[ad_1]

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is expected to be exceptionally busy over the next few days leading up to the New Year due to the holiday season, prompting a travel alert from Dubai Airports.

Operators are urging passengers to plan their trips to and through the airport and follow simple travel tips to ensure a smooth airport experience.

On the back of a strong recovery throughout 2022, DXB’s average daily ridership is almost back to pre-pandemic levels, making this latest seasonal peak one of the busiest since 2019.

In the next eight days from December 27, nearly 2 million passengers are expected to pass through Dubai International Airport, with an average daily passenger flow of 245,000. January 2 is expected to be the busiest day with more than 257,000 visitors.

December has been particularly busy for DXB due to a combination of seasonal tourist influx, the recently concluded football match in Doha and Dubai’s emergence as a top travel destination over the past two years.

Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines, regulatory authorities and commercial and service partners to ensure a smooth airport experience for arriving and departing passengers, and the operator has urged travelers to follow some simple tips to get through the holiday rush.

• For those traveling as a family, children over the age of 12 can use the Smart Gate to speed up the passport control process.
• The road to the airport may become busy during peak hours. It’s best to plan some extra time to travel to and through the airport.
• If you are departing from Terminal 1, please arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.
• Start your journey smoothly by using online and self-service options wherever possible.
• Passengers departing from Terminal 3 can use Emirates’ convenient early self check-in facility.
• Weighing luggage at home, checking documents in advance, and getting ready for security checks can save a lot of time at the airport.
• Use the Dubai Metro to and from the airport. Dubai Metro, which has stops at DXB’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, will operate 24/7 from 31 December 2022 until 1 January 2023.
• Say goodbye to home as only passengers are usually allowed into the terminal during peak hours.
• Friends and family are advised to use the airport’s designated car parks or valet parking services to accommodate their guests comfortably, as access to the arrivals forecourt in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 is limited to public transport and other authorized vehicle. – trade arab news agency
