PALMER TWP., Pa. – A Lehigh Valley indoor golf and entertainment business has wrapped up its nearly two-year run as it plans to reopen at a new venue in the coming months.
X-Golf Lehigh Valley, a 10,000-square-foot golf-themed sports bar and family entertainment center at 80 Kunkle Drive in Palmertown, has closed and “will not reopen at this location,” A post on Wednesday said ‘social media pages.
“Looking forward to our reopening in Palmertown/Easton, PA by September 2023,” the announcement continued.
It was unclear what led to the impending relocation, and a message for franchise co-owner Robert Barlow was not immediately returned.
Another Facebook post from about a week ago said the X-Golf Lehigh Valley would be closed “due to construction issues” and customers should check back for updates.
X-Golf Lehigh Valley opened in July 2021 in a building that previously housed a variety of full-service restaurants, including The Cask Taphouse and Grill, Tilted Kilt and Don Pablo’s Mexican Kitchen.
X-Golf Lehigh Valley offers space for up to 200 guests at its original location to enjoy golf, food, drinks and more.
It features seven state-of-the-art golf simulators, as well as golf lessons, leagues and club fitting.
A full bar offers 28 draft beers, and patrons can also enjoy freshly prepared dishes such as burgers and wings.
Other amenities include 26 TVs, partially covered patio and outdoor games.
X-Golf Lehigh Valley is part of a nationwide franchise, and X-Golf America has about 100 independently operated locations across the country, including three in Pennsylvania, according to the company website.
Launched in the US in 2015, the California-based company offers state-of-the-art technology capable of measuring ball and swing data with 98 percent accuracy, according to the company website.
The company’s research and development department spent more than 15 years designing “a complex combination of laser, light, shock and camera sensing technologies to collect raw data in and around the impact zone.”
Golf simulators use custom 3D graphics software, and techniques to measure the golf ball’s motion vector as well as the golf club’s motion, such as path, angle of attack, trajectory, and velocity.
“The data tells us that many people enjoy golf as a recreational activity, but may be put off by time and cost constraints, or the intimidation of coming in as a newcomer,” reads a message on the company’s franchise page. “We’ve provided a modern solution. Giving guests the opportunity to rent the most accurate indoor golf simulator in the world is truly a game-changer. They can now play at their own level, pace and at any time of the year. Prefer to play and practice golf, rain or shine.”
“And we didn’t stop there. As if our high-end simulators weren’t attractive enough, our fully equipped sports bar and modern entertainment center make things even better, creating a dynamic, fun environment for guests to engage with Enjoy a partnership with friends, family or friends.”
X-Golf Lehigh Valley recently won “Best Virtual Golf” in Lehigh Valley Style Magazine’s “Best of Lehigh Valley 2023” reader poll, according to an April 15 post on the company’s social media pages.
