[ad_1]

Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company outside of oil and gas in the United Arab Emirates, has received the UAE Platinum Innovation Award from Dubai Quality Group.

The Emirates Innovation Awards are sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and CEO of Emirates and Group.

EGA has been awarded the Platinum Emirates Innovation Award for the company’s success in creating a global competitive advantage through innovation and continuous improvement.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, said: “We are honoured to be recognised by the UAE Innovation Awards. Innovation and continuous improvement have been at the heart of EGA and part of our values for decades. We now have a bold desire to innovate The future of aluminium production and become a technological pathfinder for our global industry.”

EGA has developed its own aluminium smelting technology in the UAE for over 30 years. Since the 1990s, the company has used its own technology in every smelter expansion and retrofitted all old production lines. In 2016, EGA entered into an agreement with Aluminium Bahrain to become the first UAE industrial company to license core process technology internationally.

In continuous improvement, EGA operates one of the longest-running structural advice programs in the world. Over the past few decades, EGA employees have made approximately 500,000 operational and technical improvement proposals, saving hundreds of millions of dirhams. The money saved from these suggestions is shared with the employee who made the suggestion.

EGA also runs a program called “Tamayaz”, through which EGA’s middle managers bring their teams together to understand problems, conduct detailed analysis to identify potential improvements and implement them.

The UAE Innovation Awards were launched by the Dubai Quality Group in 2016 to support the National Innovation Strategy and the organisation’s mission to promote quality and excellence in the UAE.
