Dubai: The Dubai Department of Planning and Development, Trakhees, completed around 16,000 transactions through its licensing arm in the first half of 2022, according to the Emirates News Agency.
This figure is up 22% from the same period last year.
Trakhees is the regulator of Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone companies.
Its Licensing Division provides local and free zones and government agencies with corporate licensing services such as the issuance of work permits, establishment cards and no-objection certificates.
Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of Trakhees, explained that all services offered by the division in its licensing division, its commercial licensing division in the private development sector, have grown significantly.
Belhoul said Trakhees aspires to boost economic growth and strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading sustainable hub supporting the global economic sector.
He also pointed to Trakhees’ desire to realize the vision of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support the economy and enhance Dubai’s status as the world’s preferred investment destination.
Additionally, Trakhees seeks to enhance its services to meet the aspirations of UAE business leaders and investors.
“In order to ensure that the Department of Planning and Development (Trakhees) supports the delivery of required services to projects and SMEs to the highest standards, the Department has received 1,029 transactions to retain the new trade name, locally and in the first half of 2022, at the port Private development zones regulated by , customs and free zone companies receive free zone licenses,” Belhoul added.
According to official statistics from the Licensing Department, in the first half of this year, customer demand for local licensing services increased to 7,067.
Local license renewal services ranked first with 3,426 transactions, followed by local license amendments with 1,063 transactions.
Booking a new brand name resulted in 951 transactions, followed by 627 new local license transactions.
International City ranked first with 203 local licensing transactions, followed by Jumeirah Village Circle, followed by Palm Jumeirah, Dragon Market and finally Palm Deira.
Statistics show an increase in the number of government service transactions in the first half of 2022. Meanwhile, the number of work permits issued by the sector has also increased, with 3,440 approved in Dubai, followed by 1,270 transactions related to permit renewals.
Regarding free zone licenses, the license renewal service was the most requested service, with 527 transactions from January 2022 to June 2022. This was followed by 185 commercial licenses and 78 transactions to retain business names under the free zone license category.
According to Belhoul, Trakhees aims to facilitate the application and acquisition of various commercial licenses by implementing a package of procedures and improving its unified electronic system for the issuance of commercial licenses.
In addition, the department aims to adopt a high performance culture to ensure customer satisfaction by reducing the time it takes to obtain these services.
