Egypt, UAE, Jordan, Bahrain discuss production of first United Arab Electric car – Markets & Companies – Business

In a statement on Sunday, Egypt’s Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) called for the swift completion of preliminary procedures in time for the vehicle to be showcased at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in the UAE later this year.

Since its launch in Abu Dhabi in May 2022, the partnership between the four Arab countries has signed billions of dollars in deals to foster sustainable growth and explore opportunities for joint investment, particularly in priority areas.

Late last month, UAE-based automaker M Glory Holding announced a $550 million project Establishment of three electric vehicle complexes in Egypt, UAE and Jordan during the third meeting of the High Commission in Amman.

M Glory launched the UAE’s first domestically produced electric vehicle, the Al-Damani DMV300, in March last year.

At their recent meeting, the committee discussed the localization of technology for the production of United Arab Electric Vehicles using local components and capabilities available in the four countries.

The committee commended the capabilities of Egyptian automaker Arab American Vehicles (AAV) and inspected the company’s production lines. Founded in 1977 as a joint venture between AOI and Chrysler Group LLC, AAV has assembled several civilian and military vehicles since its inception.

Egypt plans to produce its first electric car in 2023 as part of its government strategy to transition to electric vehicles green economy. In February 2023, the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) Regional University announced that it will launch the First locally made electric car Sell ​​within six months at an affordable price in the Egyptian market. According to Mohamed El-Ghamry, director of AASTMT’s Department of Applied Research, the project includes two electric vehicles designed in collaboration with the private sector.

Additionally, the Egyptian government has expressed a willingness to localize other aspects of the EV industry.In April last year, the Ministry of Public Commerce announced that 10 companies and consortiums had eligible to bid Responsible for the management and operation of electric vehicle charging stations in Egypt.

In June 2022, the Egyptian government launched a National strategy Develop the automotive industry, including electric vehicle manufacturing.

In October, the Egyptian Senate approved a new bill drafted by the government Create a Supreme Council for Automobile Manufacturing and set up a fund to finance the country’s environmentally friendly electric vehicle industry.
