Egypt, UAE strike 10 GW power generation deal on wind farm project – Energy – Business

The announcement was made on Tuesday after Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with a UAE delegation led by UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al-Jaber in the capital Cairo.

Shaker was also present along with Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, as well as Mohamed El-Ramahi, chief executive of Abu Dhabi’s state-owned green energy company Masdar, and Khaled Salmeen, chief executive of Abu Dhabi’s state oil company.

Shaker said the agreement will be signed after the Eid al-Adha holiday, which begins on Saturday, according to a statement from the Egyptian cabinet. The statement did not provide further details.

During the meeting, Jaber heard the results of recent consultations to implement the trilateral initiative signed between Egypt, the UAE and Jordan.

In late May, the three countries signed joint initiative The establishment of an integrated industrial partnership for sustainable economic development in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

As part of the initiative, the UAE government has allocated a $10 billion investment fund for joint projects with Egypt and Jordan.

Al-Jaber said on Tuesday that the first meeting of the Trilateral Partnership High Commission is scheduled to take place in Cairo later this month to follow up on agreed projects.

In addition, the statement added that Tuesday’s meeting also discussed various aspects of the proposed cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and the UAE in areas such as the establishment of communication towers.

The UAE delegation also met with President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday, who said Egypt looked forward to promoting cooperation with the UAE in all fields in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

El-Sisi also said that Egypt seeks to explore more prospects for cooperation with the UAE in all areas, especially in areas where the two countries enjoy preferential advantages, according to a statement by Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The President welcomed the expansion of the scale and scope of UAE investments in Egypt, and praised the progress made in relations between the two countries at all levels.

Radi added that during his meeting with Sisi, Jaber praised Egypt’s investment and trade environment as favourable, stressing the “comprehensive development process currently underway in the country under President Sisi’s leadership”.

“This provides opportunities for diversification of foreign investment in the UAE as well as in the Middle East and Africa as a whole,” he assured, noting that the UAE is keen to strengthen the strategic cooperation framework between the two countries at all levels.

Lardy noted that the meeting also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in investment, information technology, energy and communications.

In addition to Halden Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Administration, Ministers Shaqr and Talat, and Director of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel were also present at the meeting.
