Eight people confirmed to have died in the Astroworld Festival’s surge in crowds (video)

According to the authorities, the crowd began to move towards the stage around 9:15 in the evening. As soon as people approach, multiple people begin to pass out because they can’t breathe.

“The crowd began to squeeze towards the front of the stage, and people began to panic,” said Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña.

At least two dozen people were taken to Houston Hospital, and 11 of them were reported as “undergoing CPR” when they were transported, @Library 11 report.

According to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, among the injured was a 10-year-old child.

“Our hearts are broken,” she said.

Earlier in the day, a group of people stormed the VIP door. The fence was torn down, and people were trampled on. After the incident, there were no reports of casualties. Officials did not say whether what happened at the concert earlier was related to the death toll.

The Space Festival throughout the weekend has been cancelled and is currently under investigation.
