Elisha Cuthbert felt “pressured” to pose for men’s magazines early in her career.
The 39-year-old actress reflects on her experience in the early 2000s, when she posed for the likes of FHM and Maxim in her 20s to promote her films and felt she had no “choice.”
She told Rachel Bilson on the “Broad Ideas” podcast: “There was really no choice.
“This is [film] The studio wants you to do…we kind of got into a space when that really happened.
“I mean, for God’s sake, Halle Berry is doing it… Jennifer Aniston is doing it. We’re probably too young to take this situation and feel pressured to do it that matter.”
Elisha admits she wondered how the photos, which are still available online, would affect her kids, both in terms of her style and not knowing how much “airbrush” was being done at the time.
The mum-of-two – with husband Dion Phaneuf with Zaphire, 4, Fable, 6 months – explained: “That’s what I have to explain to my kids. This weird, weird dress and hair extension .
“You know what’s so crazy? I don’t even know how many of these pictures are accurate, like the airbrush…
“I’m in my early 20s. I don’t look bad, but do I look that way? I don’t even know if the fantasy is real.”
Early in her career, Elisha found herself at the top of “hot lists” published by several men’s magazines, and was named “Most Beautiful Woman in Television” by Maxim nine years ago.
Shaking off the attention, she said: “It’s not like I’ve won an Olympic medal. It’s just some list some random magazine decided to create.
“These things come up when someone reads my resume. They don’t really mean anything to me personally or my career.”
