Emerson to achieve net zero operations by 2030

[ad_1]

Emerson, a global leader in technology and software solutions, announced its sustainability strategy to achieve net zero operations by 2030 and a net zero value chain by 2045.

In its 2021 ESG report, the company detailed its goal of achieving net zero emissions and its environmental, social and governance progress.

By 2030, Emerson plans to achieve net-zero emissions from its own operations’ Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and to reduce its Scope 3 value chain emissions by 25 percent compared to a 2021 baseline. These near-term 2030 targets have been approved by the SBTi and are in line with the 1.5°C trajectory needed to meet the Paris Agreement targets. Emerson also committed to validating its long-term 2045 net-zero goal, in line with the SBTi’s net-zero criteria.

low carbon transition

“We help some of the world’s largest companies and most critical industries make the low-carbon transition,” said Emerson President and CEO Lal Karsanbhai. “Our net zero target is an important step forward as we grow our business and contribute to a more sustainable world.”

Emerson has aligned its sustainability approach to the net zero standard set by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), the leading organization driving the adoption of science-based targets.

“In addition to the depth of our own sustainability roadmap, Emerson’s products, software and services help our customers, suppliers and partners achieve their sustainability goals,” said Emerson Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Development Officer Mike Train said. “In the face of climate change, we believe that driving mass adoption of energy transition solutions can make a net-zero future a reality.”

ESG Metrics

Emerson’s 2021 ESG Report also highlights social and governance progress. Emerson has hired its first chief people officer, continues to expand the use of ESG metrics in its compensation program, and advances its diversity, equity and inclusion goals and employee programs.

“The support and energy from the board and management team is setting the tone for Emerson’s future direction and culture,” said Elizabeth Adefioye, Emerson’s senior vice president and chief people officer. “I’m excited about our ESG goals and the progress we’ve made on many fronts.” – arab trade news agency
