Emirates’ flagship A380 has completed a landmark landing at Auckland Airport, marking the first time an Emirates double-decker aircraft has landed in Auckland since February 2020, signaling rising demand for travel in and out of New Zealand.
Ahead of the country’s first fully open summer season since the pandemic, Auckland Airport welcomed a special direct daily service from Dubai to Auckland.
Emirates flight EK448 took off from Dubai International Airport at 10:05am local time and landed in Auckland at 11:05am local time. The flight has reclaimed the title of longest route in the Emirates network, covering 14,200km with an estimated flight time of just under 16 hours from Dubai to New Zealand and 17 hours and 15 minutes in the other direction. This makes it one of the longest nonstop scheduled commercial flights in the world.
Emirates has been flying to New Zealand for 19 years, demonstrating its continued commitment to the market. Emirates has continued to serve the country throughout the pandemic, both connecting New Zealand with the world with daily flights and transporting essentials in and out of the country with its SkyCargo service.
