Emirates and Etihad Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand their interline agreement and provide more itinerary options for travelers visiting the UAE.
This first-of-its-kind agreement between the two Emirates airlines aims to capitalize on the opportunity to boost tourism to the UAE from key source markets by allowing travelers to experience multiple destinations on a single itinerary.
This summer, customers of each airline will be able to buy a ticket to either Dubai or Abu Dhabi and return seamlessly from the other airport.
The new agreement also provides a flexible one-stop ticketing service for travelers planning to explore the UAE, as well as convenient luggage drop-off.
Emirates Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim and Etihad Airways Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Al Bulooki signed the MoU at the Arabian Travel Market, in the presence of Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark and Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves. with other senior representatives.
The expanded interline partnership builds on the two airlines’ commitment to support the UAE government’s goals to boost tourism in the UAE and enhance the UAE’s position as a global destination of choice.
This is the second time the two airlines have announced a partnership. In 2018, Emirates Group Security and Etihad Aviation Group (EAG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance aviation security, including the sharing of information and intelligence in areas of operations both inside and outside the UAE.
Last year, Emirates signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism to increase the number of tourists traveling to the UAE capital from key source markets across the airline’s global network.
