Emirates is the first airline to implement the International Air Transport Association’s IATA travel pass solution on six continents, as it has launched this digital health pass to customers in all destinations.
Following the successful trial on some routes in the Dubai hub in April, Emirates gradually expanded the IATA travel pass pilot to customers on 12 routes in June. The airline has now signed a contract with IATA to implement the solution.
Currently serving Emirates customers from 50 cities, it is expected to complete the promotion to all more than 120 Emirates destinations in October.
According to Adel Al Redha, Chief Operating Officer of Emirates“Emirates continues to invest in technologies and solutions such as IATA Travel Pass so that we can provide customers with a smooth journey and contactless experience, while enabling our airport team to effectively handle document inspections and comply with regulatory requirements.
He added: “We are very pleased to work with IATA on the IATA travel pass solution from early pilot trials to full implementation. We will continue to work closely with IATA to make improvements to provide passengers with a safer and smoother journey.”

Main features of IATA travel pass
- Repository of the latest travel requirements: It enables passengers to find accurate information about travel, testing and travel vaccine requirements
- Test center registration: It enables passengers to visit a certified COVID-19 testing center that meets destination requirements at their point of departure.
- Digital documents: The app allows passengers to manage their travel documents digitally. From receiving test results and vaccination certificates directly from authorized laboratories and testing centers, to conveniently and securely sharing these documents with authorities and airlines to facilitate travel.
Today, travelers can access more than 1,500 COVID-19 testing laboratories through the IATA Travel Pass app, and this number continues to grow. Future improvements include allowing customers to share their travel digital documents before arriving at the airport, such as COVID vaccination certificates and test results, which will be safely and automatically reflected in Emirates’ check-in system to promote a smooth and worry-free airport Experience.
