Emirates expands services to three South African gateways

Emirates said it will bring new travel opportunities, choice and convenience to customers travelling to and from South Africa, with additional services to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

The increased flights are part of the airline’s ongoing commitment to support South Africa’s economic and tourism recovery by enhancing connectivity across all of its gateways. The airline’s latest move also reaffirms South Africa’s strategic importance to its network as it prioritizes service expansion and rebuilding its capacity to unlock further growth potential.

From March 1, 2023, the airline will expand its flight schedule to and from Johannesburg, offering three daily flights. From 1 February 2023, Cape Town will offer double daily service. Emirates will also add two more flights to Durban, making it a daily one. Operation from December 1, 2022. The re-opening of new flights between Dubai and the airline’s three gateways in South Africa will increase Emirates’ flight schedule to 42 weekly flights.

Emirates’ EK 767 flight from Dubai to Johannesburg will be operated with Boeing 777 aircraft to complement its double daily A380 operation. The flight will depart at 2325 and arrive in Johannesburg at 0535 the next day. The return flight will depart Johannesburg at 2220 and arrive in Dubai at 820 the next morning.

A third daily flight from Johannesburg will help meet high demand with more than 300 available seats each way and will provide additional flexibility for South African travelers, with new evening flights making it easier to travel via Dubai to Europe, the Americas, West Asia and the Far East.

Emirates’ second daily flight to Cape Town will depart Dubai at 0910 hours and land at 1645 hours. It will then depart Cape Town at 1325 hours and arrive in Dubai at 0110 hours the following day. With Cape Town’s double-daily service, the airline will resume its pre-pandemic schedule, supporting the city’s growth during peak seasons by offering easy connections to key source markets such as Europe, the Middle East, West Asia and Oceania. tourism.

As part of its long-standing commitment to support South Africa’s tourism recovery efforts, Emirates and Tourism South Africa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this year to jointly promote tourism and travel through the airline’s more than 130 passenger destinations land.

The additional service offered to all three gateways will also give customers greater choice with a range of domestic and regional connections in Southern Africa through Emirates’ codeshare and interline partners including South African Airways, Airlink, FlySafair and Cemair Connection options for cities. No other airline offers unique connecting and onward travel options.

Passengers travelling between Dubai and South Africa can look forward to an enhanced experience in every cabin class, including a carefully curated menu and locally sourced beverages, signature amenities, and a presence by the airline’s diverse multinational crew Extraordinary hospitality provided.

The airline continues to raise the bar for a premium experience for its South African customers, offering a selection of locally sourced South African wines including Ken Forrester, Porseleinberg, Klein Constantia, Waterkloof, Boekenhoutskloof and more. In addition to this, customers can look forward to authentic and proud South African dishes and flavours, paired with a range of local cheeses and rooibos-inspired delights.

In addition to providing much-needed seating capacity in and out of South Africa, Emirates’ new flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban will collectively provide additional cargo belly capacity to further expand import and export opportunities for local businesses to help transport vital cargo goods. Exports include seafood, fruits and vegetables, fresh and frozen meat, wine, pharmaceuticals and gold – between the UAE, South Africa and beyond.
