Emirates launches flagship A380 in Bengaluru

Emirates’ flagship A380 made a landmark landing at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport yesterday (Oct 15), marking the world’s first commercial flight to a city airport in southern India for the world’s largest airliner.

Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Strategy and Development Officer at BIAL, commended Emirates for bringing this iconic aircraft to Bengaluru, saying: “Bangalore has become the first city in South India to be served by Emirates’ flagship A380 service. Following a symbolic welcome ceremony, Emirates’ cabin crew showed government officials and guests the interior of its latest four-cabin A380 aircraft with premium economy class. Emirates’ new A380 flight to Bengaluru

Passengers travelling to and from Bengaluru will be able to fly on the Emirates A380 and enjoy the aircraft’s signature services across the wider network. Emirates launched its first A380 service in India on the Dubai-Mumbai route in 2014, and Bengaluru will become the second city in India to be served by the iconic aircraft.

From 30 October, Emirates’ A380 flights between Dubai and Bengaluru will be operated with EK568 and EK569. Daily flights leave the airline’s hub at 21:25 and arrive in Bangalore at 02:30 local time the following day. The return flight leaves Kempegorda International Airport at 04:30 and arrives in Dubai at 07:10 (local time). Emirates also operates two additional daily flights using its other wide-body aircraft, the Boeing 777.

Emirates currently operates the A380 to more than 30 destinations around the world and plans to deploy the popular aircraft to more than 40 destinations by March 2023.

Emirates began operating in India in 1985 with scheduled flights to Mumbai and Delhi, and has been serving customers in Bengaluru with its award-winning service since 2006.
