Dubai: The UAE and Malaysia have established an excellent example of strategic cooperation in the fields of aviation and tourism, with an increase in the number of national airline flights, a steady increase in tourist traffic, and promising growth prospects for tourism and travel between the two countries.
The national airline of the Emirates has expanded its flights to Malaysia to keep pace with the momentum of the two countries’ thriving joint strategic partnership.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) told Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the national airlines of the UAE – Etihad Airways, Emirates and Air Arabia – operate 112 flights per month or 28 flights per week from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah fly to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The GCAA explained that Etihad, Emirates and Air Arabia operate 7, 14 and 7 weekly flights from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah to Kuala Lumpur respectively.
Etihad Airways began flying to Kuala Lumpur in 2007 and has since carried 2.7 million passengers to the Malaysian capital. In 2019, Etihad Airways signed a partnership agreement with Tourism Malaysia to attract tourists from Europe and the Middle East to Malaysia through the airline’s Abu Dhabi hub.
Emirates began flying Dubai (DXB) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) in 1995. The airline offers travel services from Malaysia through its global network of more than 140 destinations. Emirates has announced it will increase its weekly flights to Malaysia to 21 from early June to July.
Air Arabia sees its flights to Malaysia as an important step in its plans to enter the Asian aviation market and offer customers value-added travel options to international destinations, including Kuala Lumpur. Considered one of the top tourist destinations in the world, the capital has many attractions.
