Emirates News Agency – 100 industry leaders graduate from joint MoIAT-MBZUAI Leadership 4.0 training program

ABU DHABI, 22nd December, 2022 (WAM) — Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technologies, has witnessed the graduation of 100 executives from the UAE’s industrial sector who have successfully completed leadership Force 4.0 Professional Training Program.

Implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in partnership with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), the program aims to develop knowledge and skills for the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in industry. Held at the MoIAT headquarters in Dubai, the program aims to increase the country’s industrial capabilities through Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, in line with the Make it in the Emirates programme.

Al Amiri said: “The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technologies is paving the way for the UAE’s industrial future in line with the ambitious vision outlined in ‘Our UAE 2031’, through which we will continue our development journey over the next 50 years.

“The Leadership 4.0 training program is one of the pillars of the 300 Billion Actions National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategy. The ministry aspires to achieve global leadership in the development and innovation of future technologies, which is in line with national priorities aimed at building” based on knowledge and Innovative resilient economy. The ministry also seeks to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global technology hub, in line with the Technology Transformation Program aimed at accelerating the technological transformation of the country’s industrial sector. “

She added: “At the heart of Industry 4.0 is capability building. A common denominator among manufacturing companies at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is that they have visionary leaders who embrace new technologies. To develop more such leaders, MoIAT invests heavily in various education and training programs related to 4IR technologies. Initiatives such as Leadership 4.0 are critical to empowering industry leaders to drive transformation. By supporting and encouraging leaders to adopt advanced technologies, Industry 4.0 programs improve industrial competitiveness and sustainability of the sector, and improved production capacity and product quality.

“These outcomes will help solidify the UAE’s position as a leader in 4IR and develop knowledge and skills around advanced technologies among industrial leaders. We thank the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence for contributing to the UAE’s industrial journey As a sector, we value our collaboration with institutions and the role they play in advancing the development of 4IR technologies that can improve the performance and competitiveness of the industrial sector and support business growth.”

Professor Eric Xing, Rector of the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, said: “We are proud to support the goals of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology by training industry leaders to harness new technologies now and in the future. The goal of the centrality of intelligent solutions strengthens this cooperation. The Industry 4.0 initiative will directly promote artificial intelligence innovation in the industrial field, which is crucial for the future of the national economy.”

The training program aims to develop technical knowledge around the power of artificial intelligence in smart manufacturing and how it can support the implementation of national goals. The program raises awareness of the core elements, concepts, trends and values ​​of Industry 4.0.

Graduates include representatives from leading domestic and global companies such as Emirates Steel Arkan, Agthia Group, Ittihad Paper Mill, Gulf Coca-Cola Bottling, National Cement Factory LLC, Masafi and Globalpharma LLC, among others. Many of the participating companies operate in key industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, advanced manufacturing, petrochemicals and chemical products, rubber and plastics, machinery and heavy industry.

Keynote speakers included Saqr Bin Ghalib, Director, UAE Office of Artificial Intelligence, Pratulkumar Shinde, Assistant Vice President, Siemens Advanta Consulting, and Mohittin Kourtev, Director, Learning and Innovation, Strategic Projects, Edge Group. Other speakers from global companies included Madhu Hosadurga, Global Vice President of Artificial Intelligence, Schneider Electric, Nouman Qaiser, Manager, Digital Transformation, Supply Chain, Unilever, and Yasser Ahmed, Business Development, IoT and Digital Business Director, MENA, Schneider Electric.

MBZUAI faculty members moderated the interactive sessions. They include Professor Abdulmotaleb El Saddik, Chair and Professor of Acting in Computer Vision, Dr Meouane Debbah, Adjunct Professor of Machine Learning, Dr Martin Takáč, Associate Professor of Machine Learning, Dr Mohammad Yaqub, Assistant Professor of Computer Vision, and Dr Ahmed Dabbagh, Director of Professional Services.

In addition to exchanging knowledge, the Industry 4.0 program allows participants to share ideas, explore avenues of collaboration to create multiple business opportunities, and encourages them to support each other’s development.

Initiatives such as the Champions 4.0 Network involve industry-leading knowledge partners to help industrial companies and SMEs adopt 4IR solutions to improve productivity and global competitiveness. This collaborative ecosystem stimulates investment in priority industries in the UAE, in line with the Make it in the Emirates programme.

MoIAT seeks to facilitate the adoption of 4IR solutions by supporting companies in overcoming implementation barriers. The Fourth Industrial Revolution Readiness Index is an important pillar of Industry 4.0, supporting businesses in their digital transformation. It involves an assessment of the digital maturity of a manufacturing plant’s processes, technology and organization, identifying areas for improvement.
