Emirates News Agency – Abdullah bin Zayed chairs Education, Human Resources Committee meeting

ABU DHABI, 17th December, 2022 (WAM) — His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, EHRC, chaired the Committee meetings held remotely via videoconferencing.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah directed the council to work on the policy and system of standardizing the national and international examinations that students take in schools to benefit them in a manner consistent with efforts to develop the education system and fulfill the country’s aspirations.

He said the exam should be an effective tool to identify students’ true level of basic knowledge, abilities and skills and provide authorities with accurate information on their performance in order to formulate changes needed to develop policies and systems and curricula.

He also stressed that these exams need to be aligned with the educational experience of the students, their aptitudes and abilities so that they can reach their highest potential and contribute to building the future of the country.

In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reiterated the importance of the National Center for Quality Improvement in Education as it was established to evaluate the education system and measure educational outcomes, including students’ performance in examinations , with the aim of improving the quality of education in the country.

Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technologies and Chairperson of the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE), reviewed the updated plan to evaluate policies for students in public schools.

She outlined that under the guidance of the UAE’s wise leadership, ESE will start implementing the policy in the second semester of the academic year, as the institution listens to parents, teachers and students and reviews Year 12 output, as well as the University’s requirements, and found it necessary to increase parent transparency about students’ actual levels.

She also affirmed that assessments are fundamental to plans to improve the skills of public school graduates.

Al Amiri added that the Emirates Schools Establishment seeks to link apprenticeships with clear cumulative competencies, skills and experience across all major and supportive education positions, detailing motivating and rewarding career paths for workers in the sector and encouraging graduates to choose teaching Professionals.

Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, has reviewed a series of proposals and recommendations for the development and renewal of the system of “General Education Equivalency” certificates issued by private schools in the country.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Education aims to achieve the highest quality educational output and improve services for students and parents through an integrated system developed in coordination with education authorities.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education; Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology; Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Secretary-General of the Council; Sara Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education; Karam, Director, Knowledge and Human Development; and Dr. Muhaddiha Al Hashimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Private Education Authority.
