ABU DHABI, 16th December, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Arabic Center, ALC, part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi DCT, is presenting some of its major projects, initiatives and publications The object participated in the 2022 Jeddah International Book Fair.
The expo is organized by the Saudi Arabian Literature, Publishing and Translation Council at the Jeddah International Convention and Exhibition Center from December 8th to 17th.
The ALC is highlighting its various cultural projects and initiatives to reach the largest possible audience and presenting its publications covering a variety of topics.
The Center is also strengthening its relationships with local and Arab entities, institutions and publishing houses.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the ALC, said: “The Jeddah International Book Fair 2022 is a major cultural event that plays a vital role in advancing the inspiring intellectual and social progress of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With its rich cultural program, the event promotes the publishing and translation industries and provides the public with a comprehensive understanding of the region’s literary and artistic industries.
“ALC’s participation in this year’s show is to highlight our latest projects and initiatives that will strengthen the Arabic language and elevate it as a major pillar of Arabic cultural identity. We look forward to meeting with experts from the publishing, translation and book industries Engage with stakeholders in an effort to come up with an innovative vision to enhance the cultural landscape and expand its scope in the Arab region.”
ALC’s participation in Jeddah International Book Fair 2022 is to advance its vision to promote and support culture and to introduce the audience to ALC’s programs and publications. The center is also promoting the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) and working to attract Saudi universities to the event.
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Center showcased 450 publications to visitors at the Jeddah International Book Fair, as well as the work of the Kalima Translation Project, which aims to revive the translation movement in the Arab world, support cultural activities in the UAE Abu Dhabi, and Contribute to regional and international cultural scenes. ALC is presenting the latest addition to the Arabic Poetry Series project, the largest anthology encyclopedia of Arabic poetry, comprising a series of 75 books to date – reaching 100 by the end of the year – written by dedicated researchers in Arabic poetry . The collection seeks to revive the heritage of Arabic poetry, an important pillar of Arab identity.
The Jeddah International Book Fair brings together leaders in literature, publishing and translation from Saudi and international institutions, as well as readers and enthusiasts.
More than 600 publishing houses are expected to participate in the fair, in addition to poetry evenings, theater performances, and children’s education and training corners.
