ABU DHABI, 6th April, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Festival has held a series of events including the return of the Ramadan Spiritual Music Series to mark its 20th anniversary. The collection brings together established and emerging artists from around the world to celebrate the spiritual values that bring people together.
The fourth edition of the series features two digital versions of renowned Egyptian spiritual singer Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy. “Songs of Passion” and “The Carpenter’s Daughters” will be available on the festival’s YouTube channel on April 7 and 11 at 22:00 UAE time respectively.
Hymns of Passion combines authentic Arabic poetry with a contemporary twist, incorporating Arabic and international music. The performance showcased the beauty of spiritual music and Arabic with talented artists such as Hani Shenouda, Sheikh Abdel Rahim Dowidar, Mahmoud Helal, Georgina Helmy and 30 musicians.
“The Carpenter’s Daughters” contains several famous poems from Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia and Maghreb countries in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
Egyptian singer Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy is known for his ability to combine classical Arabic chanting with a variety of musical cultures while maintaining its traditional identity. Abu Dhabi Arts Festival has been cooperating with him for a long time.
