ASTANA, 29th May, 2023 (WAM) — A series of competitions held in six cities in four countries marked the successful organization of the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professional (AJP) Tour.
These cities are Prague in the Czech Republic, Macapa and Maceió in Brazil and Astana in Kazakhstan.
AJP also held national championships in Turkiye and the Philippines, held national championships with many contestants in both gi and non-gi categories. The activities were organized in an orderly manner and the response was enthusiastic.
Prague also hosted the Children’s Jiu-Jitsu Festival, while the Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Macapá and Maceió achieved record attendance and exceeded all forecasts.
The competition attracts competitors of all levels, including many black belts and amateurs of various belt colors. Brazil is the world’s top Jiu-Jitsu country, with nearly 3 million male and female fighters. It also has the largest number of black belt holders at approximately 28,000. In addition, there are more than 35,000 Jiu-Jitsu academies in Brazil, mainly in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The AJP Tour plans to host over 280 tournaments this year, building on its previous achievements and hosting tournaments in every city around the world, as Abu Dhabi is the global leader in driving the sport.
AJP General Manager Tariq Al Bahri said the AJP has grown considerably over the past two years, hosting more tournaments on different continents.
He added that the goal over the next two years is to hold 500 races around the world, attracting one million entrants a year.
